A Walk in the Rain

One of my favorite quotes as of late goes as such...

"Speak in such a way that others love to listen to you, & listen in such a way that others love to speak to you."

For me, true friendship doesn't stay standing when built only upon similar interests. It's built upon trust, memories with one another, and the genuine behavior between the two persons. Last night I went on a walk around my apartment neighborhood with a good friend of mine. The night air was beautiful; a tad brisk, post rainstorm, with a slight drizzle. From puddle jumping, to finding a lost wallet, to kind-of-not-really getting lost on the way to the police station (returning the lost wallet), and enjoying each other's company, the conversation with my friend was one where I went away thinking "how blessed I am to have that person in my life". To that individual -- thank you. You are magnificent.

And to all my other dear friends -- how blessed I am to have you in my life! How grateful I am to have friends who understand the value of listening when I need to speak; in return I pray to be the friend that others turn to, to speak when they need someone to listen.

President Ezra Taft Benson said "the fellowship of true friends who can hear you out, share your joys, help carry your burdens, and correctly counsel you, is priceless." What a wise man President Benson was! I am grateful for my friends and for their support, love, and care in everything I do.

I challenge you to write or contact a friend, and let them know how much you care for them and how you appreciate them in your life. It'll make their day, guaranteed, and I can promise warmth and peace within yourself as you do so.

Happy (almost) weekend!
