Unto Us, A Child.

Christmas is a time of year that leaves me feeling overwhelmed. I'm overwhelmed with joy, with peace, with gratitude, and with many thoughts. As I've gotten older I've realized what a blessing it is to have my birthday on such a special, sacred holiday. As I get older I find myself having a difficult time asking for what I would like for Christmas and my birthday, but then my thoughts are turned elsewhere. My thoughts are guided - in all the right ways - to focus on the true Gift of the season.  I'm humbled to share my birthday with the celebration of Christ's birth. Thinking on the miracle of His birth, the majesty of His perfect life, His infinite and beautiful Atonement, and His everlasting gospel, He truly is the greatest Gift anyone could ask for.

I have so many different thoughts going around in my head, but the one that stands out most is this:

Christ is the reason for the season. He is my reason for finding joy. He is my reason for obtaining peace. He is my reason to be grateful. Because of Him I am capable of great and incredible things. I have the ability and through Him am given the capability to be a source of good, and in return I am blessed to reap good and wonderful blessings in my life. I am imperfect, I am flawed, and I make mistakes, but it is because of Him that I move forward, that I repent, and that I progress. Progress is perfection. And as we seek Him just as the shepherds and wisemen of old, we take that step in moving forward, too. Jesus Christ is the Gift.

Merry Christmas!
