Peace, Be Unto Thy Soul

There is nothing more gentle, pure, and beautiful than a long-awaited, Divine, Heavenly answer to prayer.

Today started off as an ordinary Monday. My 4 younger siblings went off to school, I helped my dad finish painting the laundry room, I went on a walk with my dog, had Kneader's with my mom, and attended both a flute and dance recital for Family Home Evening. Who would have thought that today would have ended with an answer to a long-awaited prayer?

For the past few months I have had a set of distinct, deeper questions on my mind. As time has gone on, they've become heavy on my mind and heart. I prayed, read my scriptures, and attended the temple regularly, doing all that I needed to in order to receive answers. In my imperfect, human state, I did not understand why the answers I was so diligently seeking were not coming as quickly as I wanted them to. I was wanting the Lord on my time, wanting these questions answered now.

Today, I have learned that, when it's most unexpected, the Lord answers my prayers. Throughout this personal struggle, I now recognize that He was teaching me the beautiful doctrine and promise that all good things will come in time, HIS time. The peace and warmth I feel in my heart is the sweetest and most beautiful I have ever felt. He answers my prayers quietly, subtly, softly. Yes, part of me is asking "why?" in response to the answers I got, but I know that as long as I place my entire heart and faith in the Lord, everything will work out, and everything will be okay. He is the Lord. He is Omniscient and Omnipotent. His knowledge and timing is perfect. It is oh, so important to learn now how the Lord answers your prayers. I promise it will save you much confusion and pain. Learn the way He speaks to you; He cares so much about you and is ready to answer your calls: you just need to be ready to hear what He has to say. Learn to Listen.

I stand as a witness that the light will come. The path may be rocky and long, but the darkness will soon depart as we learn to rely on our Father and His Perfect Son, Jesus Christ. I can testify of His love for each of us. I can testify that He allows trials and hardships to come upon us for personal growth, and to bring us closer to Him.

Doctrine & Covenants 121: 7,8
"My [child], peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment; And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes."
